The Rural Energy Agency (REA) has embarked on a transformative clean energy campaign, revolutionizing the way Tanzanians cook. With a focus on sustainability and environmental conservation, REA has signed contracts to install clean cooking energy infrastructure in 52 secondary schools and one VETA college across the country. This initiative is a significant step towards reducing the reliance on firewood and charcoal, which are major contributors to air pollution and deforestation. The project, valued at 5.8 billion Tanzanian shillings, will benefit 2,192 teachers and 54,405 students, making it a comprehensive and impactful endeavor. The installation of LPG systems, cooking pots, and alternative charcoal procurement will not only improve the health and safety of these institutions but also contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for Tanzania.
