Metallica fans face permanent ban after 'incredibly stupid' stunt at Australian show
Two Australian Metallica fans have been banned from a venue for life after a daring and potentially dangerous stunt at a recent gig. Beau William Loch Rollings, 20, and Rory Hugh Culbert, 23, were arrested after they climbed a speaker tower during the band's performance at Optus Stadium in Perth on November 1st.
The pair's actions were not only illegal but also incredibly reckless. They ignored safety barriers and climbed to heights of 10 to 50 meters, clinging to scaffolding for around 20 minutes. Their mobile phones, which contained footage of the stunt, were seized by police.
The Perth Magistrate, Ruth Dineen, described their behavior as 'something that seemed funny at the time' but resulted in trespassing charges. Both men pleaded guilty and were fined $1000 each, with an additional $308.80 in court costs. The most significant penalty, however, was the lifetime ban from the stadium.
This incident highlights the importance of fan safety at live events. Metallica's performance in Perth showcased a career-spanning setlist, featuring nine of the band's 11 albums. Despite the excitement, this stunt could have had severe consequences, and the fans' actions have now resulted in a permanent ban from the venue.
The band's recent M72 world tour, promoting their album '72 Seasons', included only one track from the album, 'Lux Æterna'. This incident serves as a reminder that fan engagement should always be respectful and safe, ensuring that the experience remains positive for all attendees.
